Juneteenth at the JOY project

  • theJOYproject 1105 Alger Street Detroit, MI, 48211 United States (map)

Come gather with us on the land for an evening of fire, flavor, and freedom.
This Juneteenth, The Joy Project invites the community to witness and share in a whole-animal cookoff — featuring lamb slow-roasted over real wood coals, seasoned with our signature Juneteenth Jawn blend.

This is more than a meal.
It’s ancestral memory, made edible.
It’s the return of the communal fire pit — the open-air kitchen where stories are shared, and nourishment is collective.

Expect music, storytelling, a grounding ritual, and plenty to taste.
All are welcome. Come early, stay late, bring your people.

🔥 Free to attend
🍽️ Tasting portions available while they last
